Iranian Forces State Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported debris fell on a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
